Located on the Italian island of Favignana subject of the international design competition was to revitalize the old castle facility as a new international center of arts.
Our proposal changed the competitions contents freely. Instead of a mere museum that surrounds the castle and develops its functions in a way that is offered by an urban museum as well, we took the entire site as a new center for land-arts, thus to be a plot for artistic activities as are known from Christo, Robert Smithson or Kurt Fleckenstein.
The new building than serves as an exposition and documentation center focusing on the making of those arts projects, showing sketches and sketch books of visiting artists, that get in contact with visitors for which the building offers hotel rooms and a dining area.
